A2Z Trivia is free — 1,000+ questions, 7 categories. Premium unlocks adaptive difficulty, spaced-repetition tracking, and AI cognitive coaching for serious learners.
Start free. Upgrade when adaptive learning, spaced repetition, or AI coaching genuinely fits your goals. Annual saves roughly 17% (10× monthly — two months free).
Match your learning intent to a tier — we built the ladder so each step earns its keep.
You enjoy the daily question habit but feel boxed in by the 5-per-day limit. You want quiet, ad-free study time and a streak you can show off. You are not yet ready for the heavy machinery of adaptive learning — you just want unlimited play. Plus is exactly that: removes friction, keeps the experience clean, adds a streak you can grow.
You are studying for something specific — a quiz bowl, a job interview that includes general knowledge, an exam, a podcast appearance, or just personal growth with measurable progress. Spaced repetition and adaptive difficulty are the cognitive-science gold standard for retention. Pro gives you both. The analytics charts let you see exactly which categories are weak and how fast you are improving.
You want the full GWN ecosystem (45,000 puzzles, multiplayer rooms, word tools) AND the AI coaching layer that turns A2Z Trivia from a quiz site into a personalized study system. The AI generates new practice questions targeting your weak topics, schedules your reviews based on your forgetting curve, and ships a weekly cognitive performance report. If you treat learning as a craft, this tier is built for you.
Compare the learning-science features at a glance. The further right you go, the more the system adapts to you instead of you adapting to it.

A trivia question is more than a fact — it is a tiny act of cognitive exercise. Here is the learning science behind each step on the A2Z Trivia ladder, and why it matters when you are trying to build durable knowledge instead of forgettable cocktail-party recall.
Every question on A2Z Trivia is an act of active recall — you reach into memory and pull out the answer, instead of passively re-reading. Research from the University of Washington and Purdue has shown active recall produces roughly 50% better long-term retention than reading or highlighting. The free tier gives you this benefit on day one, free, forever. The 5-question daily limit is enough to build the habit but not enough to fatigue you. Many learners stay on the free tier and benefit enormously.
Two more concepts from the cognitive-science literature: spacing (separate study sessions instead of cramming) and interleaving (mixing topics instead of blocking one). The Pro tier's spaced repetition surfaces missed questions at expanding intervals, and the “custom themed quizzes” feature lets you interleave categories on demand. Together, these techniques can double or triple retention compared to massed practice. If you have ever wondered why you forget last week's trivia, this is the fix.
Metacognition is “thinking about thinking” — knowing what you know, knowing what you do not know, and adjusting your study accordingly. Most learners are terrible at it; we all overestimate familiar topics and underestimate weak ones. The AI study coach is essentially metacognition-as-a-service: an external observer that watches your answers, identifies where your confidence outpaces your accuracy, and recommends what to study next. For learners chasing serious knowledge goals, this is the most valuable feature in the lineup.
Premium tiers also unlock benefits that do not fit neatly on a feature list but matter daily:
Trivia is fundamentally a focus activity. Every ad is a tiny cognitive interruption. Removing them at the Plus tier (and above) is not just aesthetic — it materially improves how well your brain processes and retains the questions you are answering. Several Plus subscribers tell us this was the single biggest unlock.
All-Access opens up the entire Grande Web Network — 45,000+ puzzles at puzzledepot.com, multiplayer word rooms at puzz.com, advanced word tools at a2zwordfinder.com. Brain-training benefits compound when you cross-train across game types. A daily mix of trivia, crosswords, and word puzzles is measurably better for cognition than any single activity alone.
All-Access and above unlock deep-dive themed quizzes that we hand-curate specifically for paying members — topics like “Nobel laureates by decade,” “Pulitzer fiction winners,” “Olympic firsts,” and dozens more. These never appear on the free tier because they take real editorial hours to build well. Your subscription literally funds the next themed pack.
If you are considering the All-Access+AI tier, here is what a weekly cognitive performance report from the AI study coach actually contains. We pulled this from a real subscriber (anonymized).
| Category | Mastery | Retention | This Week Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| History | 82% | 91% | Modern (20th c.) gaps |
| Science | 76% | 87% | Chemistry — periodic table |
| Geography | 64% | 71% | PRIORITY: African capitals |
| Pop Culture | 89% | 94% | Maintain (review only) |
| Sports | 58% | 69% | PRIORITY: Olympic history |
| Literature | 71% | 80% | 20th c. novelists |
| Arts | 73% | 86% | Architecture & design |
Plus the report includes: trajectory charts (mastery over 4 / 12 / 26 weeks), 5 newly-generated practice questions targeting your weakest two categories, your personal forgetting-curve graph, and an estimated “quiz-ready” score if you were sitting for a general-knowledge competition this weekend. Subscribers get the full report every Sunday morning, delivered by email and visible in your dashboard.
We thought hard about the price ladder. Here is the rationale, in plain English, so you can decide whether the value matches the cost for you specifically.
5 questions per day, every day, forever, is genuinely useful. Many learners stay on the free tier indefinitely and that is fine by us. We earn modest ad revenue, you get a daily habit, everyone wins. We will never paywall the daily question.
Annual pricing is 10× monthly — pay for ten months, get twelve. Roughly a 17% discount. Why ten? Because cancellation friction is real; we would rather charge less for annual than pretend we are giving a bigger discount.
Some sites offer lifetime deals. We will never. Building, fact-checking, and updating questions has ongoing cost; a $50 lifetime fee for years of editorial work makes no economic sense for us — or, ultimately, for the quality of the content you receive.
AI inference has real per-user cost. The weekly cognitive report, the personalized review schedule, and the targeted practice generation all run on cloud GPUs that we pay for. $4.99 covers our cost plus a modest margin — not a price that subsidizes anything else.
We get asked about family plans frequently. Honest answer: we are a small team and a family-plan SKU adds engineering complexity we have not yet justified. For now, casual household sharing on one account is fine with us. A formal family plan may come in 2027.
If you genuinely cannot afford Pro or All-Access but believe it would change your learning life — a student, an unemployed job-seeker, a teacher building a curriculum for under-resourced kids — reach out. We grant a limited number of fee-waived accounts each quarter, no application drama, just a quick email.
Start with the free tier — no signup, no card. Upgrade only if and when adaptive learning, spaced repetition, or AI coaching genuinely fits your goals.
